It always amazes me how versatile fencing is when it comes to influencing other forms of art. We finds this in literature, classical and commercial art, music, poetry, and all forms of theatrical endeavors. Fencing stimulates the imagination and the creative spirit.

For me this has been so in the area of caricature. As long as I have been fencing, I have been drawing swordsy characters, purposeful exaggerations of the real thing. This humorous approach to the subject simply appeals to me, so much so I have been drawing them for fifty years.
